"A Dog of Flanders" (1959) is an emotional tale of friendship and compassion. David Ladd plays Nello, a boy who dreams of becoming an artist. Donald Crisp is his ailing grandfather. The two of them lead a modest life together, until they come across a wounded dog. They nurse the animal back to health, and it quickly becomes Nello's closest friend. When tragedy strikes Nello's grandfather, the boy and his dog form an unbreakable bond.
