Description
Shakespeare's sexy comedy of fairies and fickle love comes rollicking to life in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (1935), a gorgeous, two-time Academy Award winning movie presentation of Max Reinhardt's famed Hollywood Bowl production. Erich Wolfgang Korngold adapted Felix Mendelssohn's bewitching score, and James Cagney, Dick Powell, Joe E. Brown, Mickey Rooney and a slew of other sprites join Olivia de Havilland as she makes her screen debut. "Lord, what fools these mortals be," but what laughter and joy it is to watch them!

      Comments about this product:

My favorite comedy from Shakespear. Very well done, and not modernized. Will watch again and again. Unbelievable special effects, especially considering the film was made in 1935.

          Comments about this product:

The 1935 Midsummer Night's Dream movie is a work of art and to top it off, it's easy Shakespeare! I first saw it on 1960 or 1970's late night B&W TV. I had always wished to see it again but didn't know how/where to. Then to my delight, it aired this week on TCM TV. The fairy dance scenes are incredibly rewarding to see. I was particularly entranced by the image of Oberon's flowing cape as he ascends into the fantacy infinite-star night and the beautiful undulating hands of his lover disappear into heaven. I must have this film art treasure but on fixed income will have to save up for it.
