Description
On April 14, 1912, just before midnight, the unsinkable Titanic struck an iceberg. In less than three hours, it had plunged to the bottom of the sea, taking with it more than 1,500 of its 2,200 passengers. In his unforgettable rendering of Walter Lord's book of the same name, A Night to Remember, the acclaimed British director Roy Ward Baker (Don't Bother To Knock) depicts with sensitivity, awe, and a fine sense of tragedy the ship's final hours. Featuring remarkably restrained performances, A Night To Remember is cinema's subtlest, finest dramatization of this monumental twentieth-century catastrophe.

      Comments about this product:

Very good movie even though you know what will happen to the ship. Kenneth More is a very under rated actor here in the U.S. but is excellent as Second Officer Charles Lightoller.
The only part I did not like to well was the film showed the ship sinking intact when the ship actually broke up at the surface and sank in multiple pieces as was shown when the wreck was discovered in 1985.
Overall a very, very excellent movie and I recommend it to anyone interested in the Titanic.

Am a big fan of David McCallum, so it was nice to see him in one of his early (but all too brief) roles.

            Comments about this product:

While Cameron's Titanic highlighted the special effects and a burgeoning young romance, this is the film that most accurately follows Walter Lord's book, "A Night to Remember" By downplaying the hysteria and panic, the viewer is able to witness the more personal poignant stories that undoubtedly occurred during this tragic event. This one will stay with you long after the initial viewing.

As an honest reflection of a historic event. Recently visited the Titanic Museum in Belfast, they site this movie as the most authentic portrayal of events.
