Be transported to lush, romantic Vienna with "Arabella" (2003), one of Richard Strauss's most popular operas. Set in the 1860's, "Arabella" chronicles the tribulations of the family of Count Waldner, whose eldest daughter must marry well to save the family from impending financial ruin. Meanwhile, their second daughter, who has been brought up as a boy because they cannot afford to marry off two daughters, falls in love with one of Arabella's suitors. Bernard Haitink conducts this performance by the Glyndebourne Festival Opera Company.
