In the aftermath of World War II, 11-year-old Petit Jean (Guinal Barthelemy) is sent to live with his two childish uncles, one of whom is a poacher. Inspired by their rebellious antics, the young boy decides to kill the neighbor's chickens, but, much to the amusement of Petit Jean, the wrong person is blamed for the crime.
