During his heyday, comedian Arthur Lucan was one of the most popular acts in the U.K. and his greatest creation was a brash, high-strung Irish washerwoman, seen here in six feature films on the 2-disc "British Cinema Collection: Old Mother Riley." In "Old Mother Riley in Paris" (1938) the old lady and her daughter - played by Lucan's wife, Kitty McShane - mistakenly board a ship instead of their intended bus and "Old Mother Riley M.P." (1939) finds the elderly gal running for a seat in Britain's House of Commons. Later entries in the long-running series include "Old Mother Riley's New Venture" (1949), "Old Mother Riley Headmistress" (1950) and "Old Mother Riley's Jungle Treasure" (1951). Finally, Lucan is joined by horror icon Bela Lugosi for the inevitable "Mother Riley Meets the Vampire" (1952).
