"Grand National Night" (1953) is a thriller set in the world of horse racing, starring Nigel Patrick as the owner of a horse that wins the National and the estranged husband of a wife who ends up murdered. In "Kill Me Tomorrow" (1957), Pat O'Brien plays a down-and-out reporter who faces one personal tragedy after another, and desperately attempting to help his ill son, becomes involved with murder and Scotland Yard. Tommy Steele also performs in this complicated British noir plot.
