Ever since the first European settlers came to America, the relationship with Native Americans has been contentious at best. With this Oscar-winning documentary by directors Maria Florio and Victoria Mudd, the conflict in focus is the government enforced relocation of thousands of Navajo Native Americans that began in the 1970s and continues to this day. Documenting Navajo activists as they fight for their rights against powerful corporate interests and lobbying, "Broken Rainbow" (1985), illuminates a shocking black mark on U.S. policy towards one group of its citizens. The movie is narrated by Emmy Award winner Martin Sheen.
