These are the real mean streets. The gritty, dark side of Brooklyn serves as the setting for this action-packed crime drama directed by Antoine Fuqua. Three New York cops deal with temptation versus duty, and the pressures of the job at one of the city's most dangerous precincts. Richard Gere is one burnt-out officer who is days from retiring. Don Cheadle is an undercover narcotics cop whose loyalties seem to lie more with Wesley Snipes as an inner-city drug dealer than with the force. Ethan Hawke's wife is pregnant with twins, and he's tempted to earn some much-needed funds in a way totally unsuitable to a man in blue. All three stories collide in this searing drama from 2009.
