        Comments about this product:

Part of the Tyrone Power boxed set that was issued several years ago, this movie has high adventure from Old World Spain to New World Mexico. Cortez, played by Cesar Romero leads his army of conquest against Montezuma. Tyrone Power plays a young Spaniard escaping the long, evil arm of the Inquisition. His romantic interest is the beautiful Jean Peters who didn't make many films- mores the pity. They really manage to heat up the screen during their scenes, notably a sensuous dance by the campfire. A good story and a great score accompanying the adventures of legendary swashbuckler, Tyrone Power and company, make this an outstanding entertainment that I highly recommend.

Although the movie does not delve into the ramifications of the European invasion of the native peoples of Mexico (disease etc.) it captures the mindset of the Spaniards especially in Newman's score.

            Comments about this product:

One of my favorite Ty Powers films. The production went to great lengths to present an authentic presentation. The use of language, filming in Mexico and with a great cast make Captain from the Castile a classic.

The score from Alfred Newman is timeless and one of his best.

                  Comments about this product:

"Captain From Castille" may not be the greatest movie, but its music is superb. Alfred Newman was rightly nominated for the Music Oscar. The theme "Conquest" is now part of the repetoire of the USC Trojan Marching Band and is played as a victory march.
