Paz Vega burns up the screen as the fiery gypsy who ruins men with a glance. In "Carmen" (2003), the torrid story of passion, betrayal, and tragedy plays out before traveling French writer Prospero Mrime, played by Jay Benedict. To sidestep a murder rap, Vega's cigar-factory girl seduces soldier Leonard Sbaraglia. Oblivious that his obsession with Vega has set him on the path of doom, Sbaraglia gives up his profession and even commits murder for his love. The arrival of Vega's husband and a certain charismatic bullfighter seals a tragic destiny for all.
