This adaptation of Rodger and Hammerstein's musical about love and loss contains some of the duo's most beautiful song work. Following the story of Gordon MacRae's young carnival barker, who falls in love with a beautiful mill-worker played by Shirley Jones. After both lose their jobs, Gordon's character is killed while committing a robbery. 15 years later, Gordon is allowed to return to Earth to visit the daughter that he never knew. The "Carousel (50th Anniversary Edition)" features the songs, "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."
