Middle-aged judge Cass Timberlane is a dutiful, dependable pillar of society. Platinum-haired Jinny Marshland is a tomboy from the other side of the tracks. When the two fall for each other and dare to marry, the staid Minnesota city where they live becomes a brushfire of gossip and rejection. “In Love with Her Was Like Being in an Earthquake” the film’s ads trumpeted, and audiences eagerly queued for the seismic emotional ride of a film, based on the Sinclair Lewis bestseller, that teamed Hollywood’s greatest actor with its hottest bombshell. Spencer Tracy as Cass and Lana Turner as Jinny are magnetic as lovers so drawn to each other that age, class, tragedy and even another man cannot destroy their bonds.

    Comments about this product:

This is a romance of the ages. Spencer Tracy, a middle-aged jurist and a young inexperienced woman, Lana Turner.

Their marriage causes a lot of gossip among the Country Club folks. Zachary Scott likes Lana, he gets her to learn piloting small air craft and act in leads in plays, plus help redecorating the old household. Now, Lana wants Spencer to find a position out this town. They go to New York City.

Again, Lana is bedazzled with shops and parties with celebrities. Zachary knows how to show his date a good time. Meanwhile, Spencer went to his job interview. He got reminded of a college poem that he wrote. Spencer turns down the job offer and decides to take the biggest case possible back in his Minnesota hometown. Lana refuses to return, she wants Zachary to keep up the fascination.

They part ways until Spencer learns the Lana is seriously ill from injuries. She jumped out of a moving car near Central Park after learning Zachary's true intentions! The couple goes home, she is contrite. But, doesn't believe in forgiveness.

Will she believe in her husband again? Will he cross swords with his friends in court? Will she forgive herself? I invite to watch.

This is a good Sinclair Lewis novel.
