The second film from acclaimed writer-director Preston Sturges, this movie stars Dick Powell and Ellen Drew as a couple that goes on a huge shopping spree after thinking they've won $25,000. Dick plays an office drone at a gigantic coffee company. The business is offering a cash prize from a new ad slogan and Dick's co-workers play a prank on him by making him think his contribution was the winning entry. The expected financial windfall is great news to Dick and his girlfriend Ellen, so they engage on an extravagant spending spree that brings Christmas to July.
