Every September, a successful New York businessman (Hudson) visits his Italian villa to relax and to romance his Roman girlfriend (Lollobrigida). But after arriving unannounced one July day, he's in for a huge surprise! During his absence, the luxurious home has become a hotel. What's more, the current guest list accommodates a gaggle of American girls with persistent boys pining after them. In a desperate attempt to regain control, Hudson manages to lose his privacy, his girlfriend and his mind-until he comes up with a plan of his own.

This is the film in which Bobby Darin not only made his feature debut, but also ended up marrying his lovely co-star Sandra Dee, just ten days after filming wrapped. Come September also features beautiful camerawork by Greta Garbo's favorite cinematographer, William Davis, with designer Morton Haack creating Ms. Lollobrigida's exquisite gowns.

      Comments about this product:

This is riotous comedy (1961) between Rock Hudson and Gina Lollobrigida. Rock is a business man that visits his villa every September. Gina is his easy sexual companion every time he visits.

Walter Slezak is his butler and villa manager. He raises money to fix the villa up in better shape by using it as a hotel the other months of the year. Currently, the guests are a bevy of American girls with a mature woman chaperon, which Walter wanted to court.

Unexpectedly, Rock changes his schedule to July. Panic, remove evidence that this is a hotel. Now, how to get rid of the guests. Meanwhile, Rock is motoring along to his villa and a Jeep full of American boys play road tag with him. They try to check-in to the hotel because they caught sight of the girls. Forced to camp outside the walls, the girls like boys around.

Two of the young people are Sandy Dee and Bobby Darin. Rock is furious with Walter, but what can he do? As he tries to toss the guests out, matron slips on Rocks' wine cork going down the stairs and must be in the hospital several days. Rock does his best to now be the chaperon.

Sandra teaches Gina on how to get a guy to propose, give him a kiss but nothing else. They are paired together in the same room because the villa is full and all women must double.

Rock tries to teach to the young women how to avoid unwanted amours encounters. Rocks tries strong physical activity to wear down the boys. No go. Then, he tries the alcohol test. Finally, they are passed out. He goes to his room and passes out too.

The matron is released from the hospital. She rounds her charges and departs. But, Gina departs with the van of young women. Rock chases, it is hilarious in trying find vehicles that don't break down. Walter is in the vehicles, he tells lies in Italian to others to get his employer to cooperate in marriage. More trouble.

Everything is wild, Gina became engaged after last year and his family is ready to meet the bride. Bobby is chasing Sandy too. They are now in Rome.

Will Rock win out over Gina's fiance? Will Bobby win Sandy? Everything is a mess with Walter interfering. This is a fun movie. It can be sexy, but nothing is going on but suggestive behavior.

As for younger viewers, wait until they are teenagers. It is a good teaching tool that Rock changed just to protect younger women. Girls, learn to say NO to boys!

This older movie is formatted in an up to date style, technically. The technical quality is great. I expect a long life from this product.

I've been looking for over a year for this film! After it played on TCM, we tried to remember who the actor was (we were convinced it was Cary Grant) but it was really Rock Hudson! I love this film and so did my parents and grandparents. A great comedy and wonderful cast of characters.
