Based on the life of Oliver Cromwell, "Cromwell" (1970) depicts the harrowing story of how he led the parliamentary forces of the 17th century English Civil War. Cromwell, portrayed by Richard Harris, is religious Anglican on the verge of fighting Catholic corruption and the king, played by Alec Guinness. "Cromwell" received an Academy Award for Best Costume Design and was also nominated for the Best Original Score. This all-star cast depicts a story of faith, power and courage.
