Hilarious and endlessly quotable, "This Is Spinal Tap" (1984) is the story of a washed-up second-rate British heavy metal band by the same name. Filmed in faux-cinema-verite "rockumentary" style, the movie traces the band's history, from the British Invasion through psychedelia, prog-rock, jazz fusion and clumsy heavy metal. Starring Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest as the band's core, "This Is Spinal Tap" was directed by Rob Reiner and features almost-entirely improvised dialogue, as well as too many cameos to name. The cast even got their guitars and took the band out on the road for a short club tour after its release!

    Comments about this product:

Being as I'm a professional musician, this movie really hits where it's aimed - the truth about playing in a rock and roll band. Non musicians may not get that much out of it, but if you play or sing, you'll have experienced things just like what happen to the guys in Spinal Tap.
