The Academy Award-winning "This Is The Army" (1943) was Irving Berlin's tribute to the Americans who fought during both World Wars. Ronald Reagan, Joan Leslie, Charles Butterworth and Joe Louis get in on the act, as do plenty of real-life soldiers. Initially a Broadway play, this film version has Berlin himself singing "Oh, How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning," and Kate Smith delivering a Congressional Gold Medal-winning rendition of "God Bless America."
