Description
Turner Classic Movies and Universal Studios Home Entertainment present Universal Rarities Films of the 1930s. Presented for the first time on DVD, these four films have been unavailable for years and are among the most requested titles of these popular stars. Now you can enjoy them again in one exclusive collection.

MILLION DOLLAR LEGS (1932)
Four screen legends are featured in key movies from their early film careers. W.C. Fields plays the nutty president of a nonsensical country that competes in the summer games in this Pre-Code musical-comedy.

BELLE OF THE NINETIES (1934)
In one of her most popular films, Mae West plays a St. Louis entertainer who relocates to New Orleans and becomes a nightclub sensation in this risqué comedy-drama.

ARTISTS & MODELS (1937)
Jack Benny headlines an amazing cast that includes Ida Lupino, Martha Raye & Louis Armstrong, in this romantic comedy/musical revue.

SOULS AT SEA (1937)
Gary Cooper stars as a ship captain opposed to the slave trade in this rousing period adventure co-starring George Raft and directed by Henry Hathaway (True Grit, 1969).

    Comments about this product:

This DVD collection is perfect for viewing on a quiet evening at home with some freshly popped pocorn. There's a pre-code comedy (Million Dollar Legs) with W.C. Fields, a comedy (Belle Of the Nineties) starring Mae West with Duke Ellington's Orchestra and another comedy (Artists And Models) starring Jack Benny, with Ida Lupino. To cap it all off, there's an adventure tale (Souls At Sea) starring Gary Cooper, with George Raft.
This is a fine collection of movies, complete with bonus features, for any fan of truly classic and rare films. This would make a great gift for such a fan.

A unique entertainment for those who enjoy little known and infrequently seen glimpses such as these are into a golden era. I am a middle aged teacher of history and film history and cannot wait to turn younger viewers on to the rich fun and engaging and enlightening experience this collection offers!

Love TCM! Love classic films, but the film prints for this collection could have been better, I excpected more from Universal.

              Comments about this product:

Yes, I know Universal has owned these pre-'49 Paramount films for years, but they were produced by Paramount during their Golden Age--not Universal which was, at the time, foundering and bankrupt! The should be billed as Paramount Rarities!

                  Comments about this product:

These look like they've been mastered from older, analog tape TV elements rather than 35mm. Very dissapointing for such wondeful and rare films to be dubbed off in such a way.
