    Comments about this product:

This a comedy; it is crime drama; yet it is a warm-hearted movie.

Ever see the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" with Edmund Gwenn as Kris Kringle? Edmund plays the sweet old man again, but as a small time counterfeiter.

Burt Lancaster is a Secret Service agent assigned to the case. A new fresh mind might be able to find the guy making these bills.

Dorothy McGuire happened to acquire a counterfeit one dollar bill with "Washington" misspelled. Burt finds out that Dorothy passed the bill and traces her to her employment. She took a liking to this guy and wants to date him. She makes a phone call, accidentally finds out that he works for the Secret Service. So, she tries to dazzle him with slang for counterfeit money.

A bill collector is after Edmund, so he prints up a new batch. Ordinarily, he is antique junk dealer. But, he is pressed. So, he goes around passing them for a nickel purchase and gets 95 cents change.

For a nickel in the early 1950's, I could purchase a donut, candy bar, packet of gum, cigar (if old enough). Believe it or not, gasoline was 19 cents a gallon.

Finally, Burt traces it down to Gwenn. Dorothy is heart-broken, she just found a new job for Gwenn. So, he will have a place to live with his a cute dog, even if it is not the same apartment building.

    You must see Gwenn's trial!
