The Eyes of MeDVD
A mesmerizing look into the lives of four young blind people, "The Eyes of Me" (2009) breaks the mold of documentary film-making in an attempt to see what its subject see. Working closely with his four protagonists, director Keith Maitland weaves rotoscopic animation, meant to convey the "sight" of his subjects, into a narrative compiled from over 250 hours of conventional footage. The result is a touching look at the hopes, fears, challenges and strengths of two freshmen and two seniors at the Texas School for the Blind in Austin.
