Written, directed, and produced by Arch Oboler, "Five" (1951) refers to the number of survivors left on Earth after an atomic bomb wipes out the human race. After searching fruitlessly for another human being, pregnant Roseanne Rogers faints when she flees to her aunt's house and finds stranger Michael already living there. Soon African American Charles, elderly Oliver, and racist Eric join the crew in this high concept social drama, and tensions soon arise. Set in a lavish Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house, the film is considered to be the original post-apocalyptic movie.
