Description
Seventeen-year-old Rachel Sandler (Andrea Bowen, Desperate Housewives) is shocked out of her carefree world when word spreads through her upper class community that Jason, a popular athlete who recently died, was an IV drug user. But it's a mysterious computer message that really hits home: Jason, who Rachel had unprotected sex with, may have been HIV positive. Wanting to learn more about HIV, Rachel is urged to visit the local AIDS clinic by her new substitute teacher, Sarah Bennett (Jennie Garth, 90210). While there, Rachel takes a rapid AIDS test, but panics and leaves before learning the results. When Sarah discovers Rachel's test is positive, she breaks the shocking news to her, later revealing to Rachel that she herself has secretly been living with HIV for more than seven years. While both women wish to keep their privacy, they soon find out that today's technology of instant messaging, cell phones and blogs, gossip - just like disease - can spread fast and furiously.

This is a great movie to show to my high school students in my health class. Although the stats are a little out of date, the message about HIV and AIDs is very informative.
      A pleasure to watch.

          Comments about this product:

I am planning on showing this movie to my 10th grade Health class hoping it would be a good wrap up to my STD and HIV/AIDS unit. I ordered it solely off of reviews and just finished watching it myself before showing it to my class. I was not disappointed! This movie is not only current and draws in a teen audiences with the cast (Andrea Bowen from Desperate Housewives; Jennie Garth) but it is also very informative and shows teens that anyone and everyone can come in contact with HIV/AIDS if they don't take necessary prevention measures.

I currently am showing this to my 11th Grade Health classes and it is a captivating Movie and really is hitting home with my students. I teach in a affluent suburb and it shows that this deadly virus can affect any demographic.

              1. I will be using this movie in HIV youth support group for stimulating of discussion on fears, anti-stigma strategy and issues of disclosure
              2. The movie looked at testing, disclosure and issued of confidentiality and this is good for stimulating discussion in the real world
              3. We have to be careful that myths are not perpetuated by mixing documentary with entertainment movie
so more facts or a follow up
