Greek Pete DVD
Filmmaker Andrew Haigh mixes fact and fiction in this study of the life of a London rent boy. "Greek Pete" (Peter Pittaros) is an ambitious young man living in London who is focused on his career and will go to great lengths to move forward in business. Pete's chosen field is male prostitution, and he's eagerly self-promoting, willing to take on clients anytime and anywhere. Greek Pete follows Pete and a handful of fellow sex workers over the course of a year, as they turn tricks, deal with the hazards ofthe trade (from unattractive customers to violent assault) and try to maintain stable private lives amidst the drugs and partying that often come with the work. Pete shares an apartment with "Londonboy Kal" (Lewis Wallis), his boyfriend who is a fellow hustler, but while Kal wants more of a serious relationship, Pete is more focused on his career -- in his mind, sex equals money, and he's not about to let his emotions get in the way. Greek Pete was cast with real-life British rent boys and features bothimprovised material and scripted scenes to present an accurate depiction of life in the sex industry. Greek Pete was an official selection at the 2009 San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.
