Two high-school basketball players and their families are followed through the professional recruiting process in this eye-opening documentary from 1994, which took five years to make and eventually brought home the Sundance Audience Award. Chicago teens William Gates and Arthur Agee have dreams of playing in the NBA, but first they must contend with the high school, inner-city life, and the often mercenary methods of basketball scouts. As they both suffer the high and lows of high school sports, their triumphs and tragedies are also reflected off the court.
