"The Lost Patrol" (1934) finds Victor McLaglen as a soldier forced to take control of his stranded squad after his superior is killed in the desert. Finally, the military courtroom drama "Sergeant Rutledge" (1960) casts Jeffrey Hunter as a cavalry officer defending Woody Strode as an African-American soldier accused of rape and murder.
