Fraught with censorship problems and released in the U.S. as a sexploitation film (titled "Where the Hot Wind Blows"), this provocative small-town drama is just now earning its place among director Jules Dassin's best work. Gina Lollobrigida stars as a sultry housekeeper in a fishing village on the Adriatic. All the men lust after her, including town boss Pierre Brasseur and local gangster Yves Montand, but she remains distant until a newcomer (Marcello Mastroianni) catches her eye, setting the stage fora deadly rivalry. Dassin's wife, Melina Mercouri, co-stars. Two-disc set includes critic's commentary, alternate ending, interviews, featurettes, more.
