A Rare American Television Interview with Rene Clair
It's a night of music, money, and mayhem for a pair of starving artists in the classic farce "Le Million" (1930). On the brink of financial disaster, a desperately indebted man and his girlfriend tear through town in search of a lost winning lottery ticket, leading them through a slapstick chase that eventually culminates at the theatre - in a scene that legendarily inspired the Marx brothers' "A Night at the Opera" (1935). Director Rene Clair's lighthearted pandemonium features meticulously choreographed chaos, the one of the first uses of wacky sound effects for comedic impact, and delightful music.
