Take a look at World War II from two different sides. In "Flags of Our Fathers" (2006), director Clint Eastwood created a compelling, in-depth look at the battle of Iwo Jima in WWII. This was the battle leading up to that famous photo of the Marines hoisting the flag at the top of the island to declare victory. But that victory came at a cost. In "Letters From Iwo Jima" (2006), Eastwood turns the perspective around to delve into the lives of the Japanese soldiers charged with the insurmountable task of defending that rock in the Pacific. These are very real characters in a poignant war film.
