An Academy Award nominee for its screenplay, "Lone Star" (1996) offers a complex, multilayered plot starring a super ensemble cast with Chris Cooper, Matthew McConaughey, Kris Kristofferson, Elizabeth Pena, Joe Morton, Frances McDormand and more. McConaughey is the archetypal hero, Sheriff Buddy Deeds, a legend in the Texas border town of Frontera. The discovery of a forty-year-old murder threatens his reputation and throws everyone into an intricate, masterfully woven web of ethical, familial, and intercultural conflicts.

    Comments about this product:

My criticism is there are no extras. Considering the subject matter on immigration, it would have been nice for some insights into the creation, even delving into the issues, which are still mighty relevant over 20 years after this film was made.
