"The Malta Story" (1954) is a true World War II drama. In 1942, this island nation was under siege by Italian warships and planes. With daily enemy attacks and dwindling supplies, the entire population of the island plays a crucial role in its defense, while it waits for reinforcements. Alec Guinness is an air reconnaissance pilot who is flying missions to photograph enemy convoys. The movie incorporates actual war footage of dog fights and bombing attacks on the harbor. Since part of the movie was shot in Malta, the real footage gives this movie a visual twist which is incredible.
