Andrzej Wajda's sequel to "Man of Marble" employs fictional characters against the backdrop of historical events that span from the Gdansk student reform movement of 1968 to the Solidarity strikes of 1980. The story concerns a journalist whose subjective reporting on the leader of a shipyard strike (and son of the worker hero of "Man of Marble") leads her to question her own political interests.
