Everyone knows that cockroaches are hard to kill. Everyone, that is, except Mira Sorvino as entomologist Susan Tyler and Jeremy Northam as her hubby Peter Mann. In this 1997 sci-fi thriller, Manhattan is overrun with disease-spreading roaches that are killing the Big Apple's kids. So the duo genetically engineers the Judas Breed, a large insect that will feed on the critters and die. Alas, in true roachness, the creatures morph into gigantic beasts that feed on meat and can mimic humans. Charles S. Dutton, as transit system employee Leonard, accompanies the horrified couple into the labyrinth of subway tunnels where swarms of the now-humanoid beasts live. The film also features Giancarlo Giannini, Josh Brolin, and F. Murray Abraham.
