"Muriel's Wedding" (1994) stars Toni Collette as the titular heroine, who spends an uneventful life in Porpoise Spit, Australia. Labeled as socially awkward and inept, she seeks refuge in ABBA music. Lost, confused, dispirited and lonely, Muriel cheers herself up by dreaming about her wedding day! Together with Rhonda, played by Rachael Griffiths, a social rebel of sorts, Muriel decides to give her life a new direction and takes the plunge by moving to Sydney. She rechristens herself, and lives life to the fullest in Sydney before she realizes her true calling.
