Woody Allen's heartfelt tribute to the Golden Age of Radio features a stellar cast that includes frequent collaborators like Mia Farrow, Dianne Wiest and Jeff Daniels, as well as a young Seth Green, standing in as an ersatz adolescent version of the writer-director. Drawing heavily on Allen's childhood memories, the film follows a Jewish-American family living in Rockaway, New York in the days before television. Intercutting between scenes of Green and his comically eccentric family and other colorful characters, it shows the impact radio had on the lives of average Americans in need of periodic escapes from reality. One of Allen's most acclaimed films, it was favorably compared to the work of Federico Fellini and garnered a score of award nominations.
