This 1994 madcap period piece is a brilliant meld of farce and murder mystery. Set in 1939, Penny Henderson, played by Mary Stuart Masterson, is the manager of a new Chicago radio network, WBN. On the night of its on-air debut, a mysterious voice interrupts with descriptions of staff murders, which soon follow. Penny's estranged hubby, staff writer Roger, played by Brian Benben, becomes the number one suspect. However, the innocent Roger dodges Michael Lerner as detective Lieutenant Cross while Roger attempts to find the real killer. Until the very end, the suspense and laughter go hand in hand. In the meantime, the show must go on-and does-with real-life radio-era pros George Burns and Rosemary Clooney.
