Ray Bradbury was born on August 22nd, 1920, and grew up in Waukegan, Illinois. As a boy he was entranced by magicians, comic strips, and science-fiction magazine covers. At the age of twelve he began what would be a life-long career as a writer.Aftergraduating from high school, Bradbury decided to educate himself at the Los Angeles Library, which he attended three to five times a week. At twenty-seven years of age he "graduated," by which time he had written several million words. From 1939 to1942, while in his early twenties, he supported himself by selling newspapers on a street corner and made approximately ten dollars a week. When he made eleven dollars a week at writing, he stopped selling newspapers. During this time Bradbury wrote forradio programs such as Suspense, Escape, CBS Radio Playhouse, and X Minus One.Bradbury has written one thousand or more short stories, of which 400 have been published in such magazines as The New Yorker, The New Republican, The Saturday Evening Post, Amazing Stories, Colliers, Dime Detective, McCall's and more.He has also written television scripts for Alfred Hitchcock Presents and for Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone. His first screen work was the script of the 1953 classic Moby Dick, written for director John Huston and starring Gregory Peck.FEATURING 13 EPISODES:The CrowdMarionettes, Inc.BansheeThe PlaygroundThe Screaming WomanThe Town Where No One Got OffThe CoffinGotcha! The EmissaryThe Man UpstairsThe Small AssassinOn the Orient, NorthThe Fruit at the Bottom of the Bowl
