Like Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," this two-part TV movie dramatizes points up parallels between current events and the most famous witch trials of all time. Hoping to unite his congregation, Rev. Parris seizes on charges of witchcraft against local girls and the slave Tituba. The result is a kangaroo court in which those who don't go along are condemned and hanged. Award-winning director Joseph Sargent ("Something the Lord Made," 2004) works with an all-star cast including Oscar-winners Shirley MacLaine and Peter Ustinov, Emmy-winner Kirstie Alley and Alan Bates, Henry Czerny, Gloria Reuben, Jay O. Sanders and Rebecca De Mornay.
