Scared Straight DVD
Before reality TV became a circus, it served a purpose. Hosted by Peter Falk, Arnold Shapiro's Academy Award and Emmy-winning documentary "Scared Straight" (1978) follows a group of 17 cocky juvenile delinquents brought to a maximum security New Jersey prison to discover first-hand what it's like to live behind bars from the "lifers" who have experienced it all. Assigned with terrifying the kids so thoroughly that they clean up their acts once and for all, the convicts don't hold back any brutal detail, any haunting threat, or any graphic horror. Also included: find out if the experiment worked with the documentary "Scared Straight! 20 Years Later" (1999) hosted by Danny Glover.
