Description
Now hear this. The studio that gave the cinema its voice offered 1929 audiences a chance to see and hear multiple silent-screen favorites for the first time in a gaudy, grandiose music-comedy-novelty revue that also included Talkie stars, Broadway luminaries and of course, Rin-Tin-Tin. Frank Fay hosts a jamboree that, among its 70+ stars, features bicyclers, boxing champ Georges Carpentier, chorines in terpsichore kickery, sister acts, Myrna Loy in two-strip Technicolor as an exotic Far East beauty, John Barrymore in a Shakespearean soliloquy (adding an on-screen voice to his legendary profile for the first time) and Winnie Lightner famously warbling the joys of Singing in the Bathtub. Watch, rinse, repeat!

**Please be aware that this is a manufactured on demand disc that was created using a DVD-R disc. It should play in all standard DVD players.

Comments about this product:

This is best and most enjoyed by paying full attention to it in one sitting. Humor ranges from subtle to blatant, music ranges from stupid to fabulous, content ranges from ridiculous to the most glamorous. Some familiarity with stars transitioning from silent to talkie films helps alot, but not essential. It is an amazing and totally unique extravaganza, especially as a product of its time - 1929 looking at "Lady Luck". It cost nearly $1M then, so you can imagine it is a huge production. Fun, friendly, fabulous for all. And, the DVD is good quality, audio and video. I gave this as a gift to a close friend who was in tears she was so happy with it.
