The world of minor league hockey is hilariously explored in this sports comedy about an unsuccessful team that resorts to brutal violence to gain popularity. Paul Newman stars as the aging coach/player of a small time hockey team that is going under. Near last in the rankings, their audience is less than interested, so Newman enlists the help of the Hanson Brothers, a trio of violent thugs who start fights and reinvigorate their crowd of supporters. Michael Ontkean and Strother Martin costar in a film considered one of the all time classics of the sports movie genre.
