In this second volume of the "Speaking Freely" interview series, author and activist Susan George discusses neo-liberalism, the roots of world poverty and the secret history of empire-building. George is chair of the planning board of the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam, a fellowship of scholars whose work is intended to contribute to social justice. From 1999 to 2006, she served as vice-president of the Association for Taxation of Financial Transaction to Aid Citizens in France. She is currently engaged in a campaign to democratize the World Trade Organization.
