Peter O'Toole stars in "The Stunt Man" (1980) as a megalomaniac director who recruits fugitive Cameron (Steve Railsbeck) to replace his late stunt man after an onset accident. Cameron gets a crash course in stunt work in exchange for refuge from the law and starts to fall for the film's leading lady Nina, played by Barbara Hershey. As reality becomes blurred, a paranoid Cameron wonders whether or not his increasingly volatile director has ulterior motives that will cost him his own life. Equal parts action thriller and filmmaking satire, the innovative film is a must-see cult classic industry insider film that examines the lines between truth and illusion just as well as it entertains.
