Penelope Spheeris, director of "Wayne's World" (1992), followed up her documentary on the early 1980s LA punk scene, "The Decline of Western Civilization" (1981) with this fictional tale of runaway teens. Two brothers leave home to get away from their alcoholic mother and join a group of punk squatters known as "The Rejected." Though at first safe in an abandoned home, they soon find their way of life threatened as a citizens' group targets them in an anti-crime sweep.
