This 4-disc set collects Superman's earliest screen appearances for the first time. Kirk Alyn, the defining embodiment of the legendary hero, stars in these two adventure-filled series. The 15-episode "Superman" (1948) chronicles the hero's early years, from his arrival on Earth from Krypton and his assumption of his alter-ego role as Clark Kent, reporter for the Daily Planet (starring Noel Neill as Lois Lane), through his battle with evil Spider Lady. "Atom Man vs. Superman" (1950) has the caped crusader facing down the nuclear age and Lex Luthor with an A-bomb (also 15 episodes). DVD special features include a documentary about the making of the serial.
