Description
When a gang of ruthless bootleggers start using bogus revenue stamps to make their illegal hooch, it falls to U. S. Treasury agents Dennis O'Brien and Tony Genaro to bust up the gang. To do that, they'll need to go deep undercover. Can they bring down the crime syndicate before their cover is blown? Based on the real life Shanghai Paper Case, "T-Men" (1947) is chock-full of action, plot twists and shoot 'em ups. In other words, the perfect Saturday night movie choice!

    Comments about this product:

Though in terms of storyline, T-Men is a somewhat straightforward crime film, the director, Anthony Mann and cinematographer, John Alton render it a definitive film noir; at least, in terms of style. The stark lighting, rich blacks often accented with backlighting, sharp upward and downward camera angels and closeup compositions give the movie a sinister, sometimes menacing look that enhances the often subtle elements of suspense. The story involves two ethical and determined detectives who go undercover to pursue gangsters involved in bootlegging and counterfeiting. There are no femmes fatale in this film but gritty characters and dialogue ("How'dja find me?" "I could smell ya.") combined with the aforementioned style, make it entertaining and visually dazzling. The details of the procedures and practices of both authorities and crooks give it an informative intelligence, as well. Over all, this is one of my favorites.
