Cinephiles will treasure "Tarzan And The Golden Lion" (1927). This silent adaptation from filmmaker J.P. McGowanl features James Pierce, the son-in-law of the Ape Man's literary creator, Edgar Rice Burroughs, as Lord Greystoke (a.k.a. Tarzan). With the the assistance of a native tribe and a lion he raised, Tarzan must rescue Jane, played by Dorothy Dunbar, from certain doom at the hands of pagan cultists. Look for a young, shirtless Boris Karloff - four years before achieving his "Frankenstein" fame - as a malevolent outcast warrior.
