Description
Fans of cinematic comedy at its finest will not be disappointed with this 3-disc set showcasing a trio of the best romantic comedies of Hollywood's incomparable Golden Age. The ever-urbane Cary Grant shines opposite frequent onscreen partner Irene Dunne in their wackiest outing, "The Awful Truth" (1937). Judy Holliday won a Best Actress Oscar for her turn as the ditzy Billie Dawn, who blossoms into a woman of class and intelligence opposite William Holden in "Born Yesterday" (1950). Grant returns, this time with Rosalind Russell, as a pair of battling journalists who happen to be ex-lovers prone to rapid-fire repartee in director Howard Hawks' screwball classic "His Girl Friday" (1940).

    Comments about this product:

Love, love, love the screwball comedies from the 30's. No one does it better than Cary Grant - his physicality, sense of timing, etc. He's given the perfect leading ladies who more than hold their own against him. You can't go wrong with this trio of movies. Pull up a chair and prepare to laugh. No one makes comedies with dialogue that crackles, pops and whizzes past your head anymore.
