The life of one of America's greatest musical talents is examined in this upbeat biopic that stars funnyman Steve Allen in his first feature film. Following Goodman's life and career from the age of 10 up to his historic 1938 Carnegie Hall performance, the film illustrates the talented clarinetist's struggle to play his music his way, as well as his budding romance with his future wife, a supportive high society girl played by Donna Reed. Cameos by such jazz legends as Lionel Hampton, Kid Ory and Gene Krupa highlight this inspirational true story.
