Description
Reuniting Tyrone Power and Orson Welles on screen, this film tells the story of an exiled Saxon nobleman who sets off to the Far East in search of redemption. Set in the 13th-Century, Power plays the man without a country, Walter of Gurnie, who is forced to flee England after taking part in a failed revolt. The nobleman soon finds himself on a globe-spanning adventure where he encounters a North African warlord played by Orson Welles and later continues on to China where, despite his initial warm reception as a guest, quickly discovers himself to be a prisoner.

Lovely adventure tale about two young Saxons who travel to exotic East only to find they love England the more. High adventure with great acting by Tyrone Power, Jack Hawkins and others. Beautifully produced with a wonderful score. Fine golden-age Hollywood production with high-power stars. A film fantasy adventure to be enjoyed again and again. Have always loved this film!

      Comments about this product:

This is a movie from when the story was the star not special effects. The first time I saw this movie was in the 1960's on network tv and fell in love with it so much that I got the book. It is true to the essence of the book but of course some things got changed or left out, but it didn't ruin the story, unlike some movies from books of today.
